Stephen Hendrix is the Assistant Director for the Upward Bound program at East Tennessee State University. Stephen also serves as an Adjunct Professor for the Department of Computer and Information Sciences where he teaches Intro to Web Design and Development. As a graduate of the Computer Science program at East Tennessee State, Stephen has a passion for integrating technological solutions into the educational community, specifically TRiO programs.

In his 7 years with TRiO, Stephen has taken on a variety of leadership positions with the Tennessee Association of Special Programs (TASP) and Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (SAEOPP). Stephen has served as the Vice President (2007) and is currently the President of TASP (2007-2011). At the SAEOPP level, Stephen is the incoming Secretary for SAEOPP. In addition to his elected experience, Stephen has also served on technology committees at the state and regional level, and has served as the onsite technology coordinator for the COE Annual Conference.

During his tenure with TRiO, Stephen has had the opportunity to present technology driven workshops at various state, regional, and national conferences. He has also presented technology workshops on behalf of SAEOPP to new Student Support Services directors and staff at the 2010 SSS New Staff Training Workshop in Atlanta, GA. Outside of the TRiO community, Stephen has had the honor of presenting a technology workshop at the 2010 Tennessee College Access and Success Conference in Chattanooga, TN.

Stephen resides in Johnson City, TN with his wonderful wife Valerie and beautiful one year old daughter Hailey.
